A 56-year-old man was discovered dead in a yard in the Back of the Yards neighborhood in Chicago on Thursday night. Authorities reported that he had been attacked by at least one dog. The incident occurred around 8:50 p.m. in the 2000 block of West 47th Street.
According to the Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office, the autopsy results released on Friday indicated that the man died from “multiple injuries” resulting from “dog mauling.” The death was classified as an accident.
The victim’s home address was not known as of Friday afternoon, and attempts to reach his family for comments were unsuccessful. At this time, it remains unclear how many dogs participated in the attack.
The Chicago Police Department has stated that detectives are currently conducting a death investigation.
