2 hours ago 0

Joey Chestnut has secured his 18th victory at Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest in Coney Island by consuming an impressive 66 hot dogs and buns. This marks his 10th consecutive win despite his absence from the 2024 event due to sponsorship issues.

Initially, Chestnut faced stiff competition from Patrick Bertoletti and James Webb. However, after the first 90 seconds, he began to establish a lead. By the three-minute mark, Chestnut had eaten 28 hot dogs, surpassing Webb and Bertoletti, who managed 22 and 21 respectively. At the halfway point, his count reached 42, giving him a significant advantage.

Although Chestnut was on pace for a record-setting performance, the intense heat and physical strain affected his progress. He reached 60 hot dogs with a minute remaining, ultimately finishing with 66. Chestnut acknowledged that he realized early on that a new record was unlikely, but focused on securing the win.

Despite being on a 180-day probation after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor battery charge, Chestnut was granted permission to participate in the event. His appearance on July 4, 2025, marked his triumphant return after missing the previous year due to a sponsorship conflict.

In the women’s competition, Miki Sudo claimed victory with 39 hot dogs and buns. She has now won all 12 contests she has entered since her first in 2014.
