In 2025, Chestnut returned triumphant after missing the 2024 contest, consuming 70.5 hot dogs. His personal best stands at 76 hot dogs in 2021. “Eating here on the Fourth of July is a dream; it’s electric. There’s no place better on Earth,” Chestnut expressed.
Patrick Bertoletti from Chicago took second place with 51 hot dogs. The competition was held at Nathan’s Famous flagship restaurant in Coney Island, Brooklyn, drawing a crowd despite the heat. Fans chanted Chestnut’s name as he raced past the 50-dog mark. Competitors vied for a $10,000 cash prize alongside the belt.
In the women’s division, Miki Sudo continued her reign by clinching the pink belt with 38 3/4 hot dogs, marking her 12th victory. Her record is 51 hot dogs. In 2025, she won with 33 hot dogs. “I’m just glad I could celebrate America 250 in this way,” Sudo remarked. Michelle Lesco, who was champion in 2021, came second with 22 hot dogs.
The event drew thousands, showcasing the fervor of the tradition. Among the attendees was a man from California, thrilled to witness Chestnut’s 18th title. “I’ve been watching this show for many, many years. We had to come out here and see Joey Jaws win his 18th title,” he stated.
Competitors hailed from across the globe, united in New York City for the weigh-in at Hudson Yards on Friday. Notable male participants included James Webb from Sydney and Max Stanford from London.
