Air quality in Washington, D.C., reached levels usually seen during previous Independence Day celebrations. These levels persisted through Sunday morning, based on data from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
The celebration involved a 40-minute fireworks display over the National Mall. EPA’s AirNow website, which provides air quality data, indicated that the air remained unhealthy for more than 10 hours following the event. This information highlights the impact of such celebrations on local air quality.
Photographs showed smoke intertwining with the fireworks as rain occurred during the display. The scene was viewed from Arlington, Virginia, capturing the environmental conditions caused by the event.
