During his campaign for the presidency, Donald Trump promised to enhance Second Amendment rights across the country. Now, his administration is actively working to reduce gun restrictions that were initially implemented for public safety.
Justice correspondent Ali Rogin, who covers the Supreme Court and judicial system for PBS News Hour, explored this issue. She spoke with Chip Brownlee, a journalist at The Trace who focuses on federal gun policy, about the administration’s actions.
Ali Rogin has gained acclaim for her reporting. She won a Peabody Award in 2021 due to her contributions to a series on the global impact of the COVID-19 pandemic conducted by News Hour. Besides this, she has earned two Edward R. Murrow Awards from the Radio Television Digital News Association.
Rogin has also been part of teams nominated for an Emmy. Her nominations include coverage of significant events such as the fall of ISIS in 2020, the mass shooting in Las Vegas in 2017, President Barack Obama’s inauguration in 2014, and the midterm elections in 2010.
