Criticism Surrounds Biden’s Memoir and Reelection Campaign

Lindy Li, a former influential Democratic fundraiser, holds strong opinions about President Joe Biden’s decision to aim for reelection in 2024, despite concerns about his age and cognitive abilities. She argues that Biden’s planned memoir, Promise Me, America, might reopen old wounds that Democrats have been trying to heal since the 2024 election loss. According to Li, the book reflects Biden’s presidency.

Li noted the discontent among Democrats towards Biden, mentioning there were no major farewell events when he left on July 21, except for a brief staff gathering. She pointed out, “Jill has him writing books that no one wants to read instead of fully enjoying his retirement.” This comment referred to Jill Biden, the former first lady. Li suggests Biden should have retired 10 to 20 years ago instead of running for a presidency that lacked enthusiasm even among Democrats.

Li, who plans to publish her own book, Unburdened, later this year, was privy to internal discussions within the Democratic party. Such discussions revealed that Biden had shaky support within his own camp long before withdrawing from the 2024 election. She doubts Biden can exit without damaging his image, which his campaign tried to protect.

Li recounted an incident where her phone was confiscated at a Democratic event because of her social media influence. She was asked to delete her posts about Biden that day due to concerns about his perceived weakness.

Li believes Democrats will be further aggravated by Biden’s actions, questioning why he wasn’t asked to step aside sooner. She observed that the party seemed more focused on hiding an embarrassing candidate than showcasing someone genuinely supported.
