Joy Behar’s Surprising Kiss with Anson Mount on ‘The View’

In a surprising moment on Wednesday’s episode of ‘The View,’ co-host Joy Behar planted a kiss on actor Anson Mount. This unexpected gesture left her fellow hosts and the audience stunned. Whoopi Goldberg introduced Mount as he approached the table. As he greeted Behar, she kissed him on the lips. Fellow co-host Sunny Hostin pointed at the pair while others laughed.

After Mount took his seat, Behar remarked, “You know something? I’m old, but I’m not dead.” To which Mount humorously replied, “That’s good, Joy, because I am.” Behar shared that when Mount visited previously, he had brought her flowers for her birthday, leaving a lasting impression.

During the ‘Behind the Table’ podcast, Behar explained her actions to producer Brian Teta, saying, “Well, all morning I’ve been hearing about Anson Mount, and I’ve been making the jokes about his name.” She admitted that when Mount arrived on set that day, she felt a spontaneous urge to kiss him.

Teta inquired whether Behar’s husband, Steve Janowitz, had reacted. Behar noted he texted her jokingly, “Cut that out.” Meanwhile, Mount discussed his role in the ‘Star Trek’ series, ‘Strange New Worlds,’ reflecting on his journey from White Bluff, Tennessee, to the captain’s chair.

In addition to Behar’s playful antics, the episode featured a discussion on Capitol Hill hearings about the Smithsonian Institution. Hostin argued that Republicans aimed to reshape historical narratives, as evidenced by the absence of reparations for Black Americans.

“Truth and reconciliation commissions have addressed other historical injustices,” Hostin said, referring to similar efforts for interned Japanese Americans, victims of the Holocaust, and Native Americans. She contended that such commissions have yet to address slavery. Hostin concluded that these efforts reflect a reluctance to acknowledge historical truths and provide financial reparations to African Americans.
