Ambassador Mike Huckabee Discusses U.S.-Israel Relations

U.S. Ambassador Mike Huckabee has voiced concerns about skepticism among some on the right regarding the U.S.-Israel relationship. He attributes this trepidation to “biblical ignorance” and a misunderstanding of the “America First” ideology.

In an interview with Fox News Digital prior to the 15th anniversary of the U.S. Israel Education Association, Huckabee clarified that embracing America First does not entail distancing from allies. He emphasized that supporting Israel aligns with both U.S. interests and the religious convictions held by many Christians.

“I notice a biblical ignorance among some groups on the right,” Huckabee remarked. “There are individuals who claim that God has ceased keeping promises to the Jewish people, which is news to God, given He doesn’t break promises.”

Ambassador Huckabee addressed the misconception that Christians are unwelcome or unable to worship freely in Israel. He mentioned his active involvement in his church’s praise band, asserting that he faces no hostility.

Recently, skepticism and hostility towards Israel have surfaced in right-wing media and among figures such as podcast host Joe Rogan, who accused Israel of “genocide” in Gaza.

Beyond theological debates, Huckabee noted the misinterpretation of “America First” as a call for isolationism. “Some on the right claim to be ‘America First,’ as do I,” he said. “I embraced MAGA before the term gained popularity. However, America First does not mean America only.”

The ambassador underscored that America’s interests extend beyond its borders, especially concerning enemy threats. He highlighted Iran’s longstanding hostility, with its regime advocating “death to America” for decades.

He pointed out Iranian proxies worldwide as a significant threat, affirming that the U.S. must remain vigilant to overseas developments. According to Huckabee, these threats demonstrate that prioritizing America does not imply isolation.

Reflecting on Iran’s hostile message, Huckabee emphasized the importance of addressing persistent threats. “If you ignore a 47-year-old threat, particularly one aimed at your demise, it’s ignorant, and even more so to be complacent,” he stated.
