Jessica Simpson Celebrates Her 46th Birthday and Returns to Music

Jessica Simpson, widely known for her role as Daisy Duke in the 2005 movie “The Dukes of Hazzard,” celebrated her 46th birthday with a close-up photo of herself wearing a black-and-white polka-dot bikini. Simpson is marking a new chapter of her life as she returns to stage performances, a decision influenced by her hiatus in order to focus on motherhood and the expansion of the Jessica Simpson Collection. During a recent appearance on “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” she shared that her children had never seen her live performances before.

“They’ve never seen me perform,” Simpson explained, adding, “I really wanted to be a mom. I wanted to focus on the Jessica Simpson Collection.”

Now back on stage, Simpson revealed that her children have been supportive of her decision, embracing this phase of her career.

“The kids are very proud of me,” she noted. “They supported me… They knew I was following my dreams, and they saw how happy it made me and how much peace it gave me. It feels brand new again, which is a beautiful thing.”

Jessica Simpson also discussed traveling to Nashville to write and record new music, emphasizing a more personal approach through her lyrics.

“I’m gonna only be honest through music from here on out,” Simpson said. “Like I can’t sing other people’s lyrics if I’m gonna put my name on it.”

She credits her 2020 memoir “Open Book” for helping her reconnect with herself, feeling renewed visibility and connection after years under the public eye.

“I’ve never felt so heard. I’ve never felt so seen in my life,” she said. “I connected with my younger self.”

Reflecting her roots, Simpson, a Texas native, describes herself as a lifelong “sun lover.” Growing up, she often spent her birthdays by the pool, rarely considering sunscreen, which led to a bronzed appearance that was part of her preparation for her Daisy Duke role. She shares no fear of the sun despite the risk of wrinkles and enjoys the sun’s rays, albeit more cautiously as she ages.

“I still like the tan, trust me, but there are ways to go about it,” she said.

Jessica Simpson’s return to music arrives after years devoted to her family. She shares daughters Maxwell and Birdie and son Ace with her estranged husband Eric Johnson. Her children have supported her renewed focus on her music career, recognizing its positive outcome.
