In June, I found myself in an unusual situation, becoming a potential hazard to every mammal around me. I took refuge in a rundown motel room, akin to a fugitive from the 1930s evading capture. It was a surreal scene with a literal waste dump visible from my window.
I arranged my sleeping space at the foot of the bed. My concern was a theoretical presence on the other side of the wall, anyone unwittingly subjected to my possible threat. Pregnant women and children under 10 were specifically the individuals I needed to steer clear of during this period.
