A sheepdog in Southern California has gained recognition as an honorary first responder. Police drone footage captured the dog’s efforts in assisting an emergency helicopter operation. The Laguna Beach Police Department shared a video on Friday showing the incident.

In the city’s foothills, officers and firefighters prepared a landing zone for a helicopter. On the ground, a white sheepdog actively herded goats away from the area, ensuring the helicopter had a clear path. The video highlights the dog skillfully moving the herd as goats ascended the hillside.

The sheepdog stepped up and helped guide a group of goats out of the way so the units could work.

The pup, later dubbed ‘Sgt. Sheepdog’ by social media users, was seen joyfully trotting with a wagging tail after completing the task. The Laguna Beach Police Department commented on social media praising the dog’s actions with, “That’s a good boy.”

Details surrounding the emergency response and helicopter deployment remain undisclosed. The uplifting video quickly went viral, with comments praising the dog’s calm and effective guidance of the goats.

The Laguna Beach Police Department responded to inquiries and reflected public sentiment, reinforcing appreciation for the sheepdog’s unexpected support during an emergency situation.
