Washington Commanders Face Setback with Laremy Tunsil’s Injury

The Washington Commanders encountered a significant challenge during their practice session on Saturday. Laremy Tunsil, the five-time Pro Bowl offensive tackle who participated in 14 games last season, has suffered a torn triceps while engaged in one-on-one pass-rush drills. As reported by NFL Media’s Mike Garafolo, Tunsil will require surgery.

With this serious injury, Tunsil is anticipated to miss a large segment of the regular season, possibly the entire season. Despite Garafolo’s initial comment about the absence of broad panic within the organization, the gravity of the situation became clear after the extent of the injury was confirmed soon after Tunsil departed from practice.

The Commanders must now devise a strategy to safeguard quarterback Jayden Daniels. Last season, Daniels missed more than ten games due to knee, hamstring, and elbow injuries. Andrew Wylie appears to be the top candidate to fill in at left tackle. Josh Conerly is expected to maintain his role at right tackle, joined by right guard Sam Cosmi, center Nick Allegretti, and left guard Chris Paul on the offensive line.

Earlier in March, Tunsil agreed to a two-year contract extension worth $60.2 million. His absence presents a notable challenge for the team’s offensive line this season.
