On Wednesday, Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ promising wide receiver Emeka Egbuka exited practice early due to an injury. Egbuka, now in his second year with the team, managed to leave the field on his own, although he was limping.
The specifics of his injury remain uncertain. NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo shared updates from the training camp, stating, “Buccaneers WR Emeka Egbuka limped off with athletic trainers. Was examined on the sideline table for a while. Hard to see exactly what’s up from where we are but he’s still on the table and hasn’t returned.”
“Egbuka, with both cleats off, just walked back to the sideline to watch the rest of practice,” Garafolo added.
Egbuka made a strong impression during his rookie season. As the 19th overall draft pick out of Ohio State, his performance was notable. He became a key target for quarterback Baker Mayfield, making 63 receptions for 938 yards and scoring six touchdowns over a full 17-game regular season.
Following the offseason exit of experienced wide receiver Mike Evans, Egbuka is poised to assume a larger role in the Buccaneers’ offensive lineup for the 2026 season.
The Buccaneers are set to kick off their 2026 regular season on September 13 with a Week 1 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals.
