Nick Reiner Indicted in Parents’ Murder

3 days ago 0

Nick Reiner, son of Rob and Michele Reiner, stands accused in the murder of his parents, who were found dead after a stabbing incident at their home in Brentwood last December. The indictment, which introduces the charge of lying in wait, significantly impacts potential sentencing, allowing for life imprisonment without parole or the death penalty.

The indictment replaces previous murder charges filed in 2025 and aims to expedite the trial process, bypassing the need for a preliminary hearing. This means witnesses will avoid publicly recounting the horrific details and history related to Reiner’s actions. Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman emphasized the profound betrayal involved, expressing hope that the grand jury indictment will bring the case closer to trial.

Reiner pleaded not guilty to multiple murder counts and lying in wait. The indictment also includes a special allegation regarding his use of a dangerous weapon, specifically a knife. Despite public discussions about Reiner’s struggles with mental health and addiction, no official motive has been disclosed.

Rob and Nick Reiner collaborated on the 2015 film “Being Charlie,” which depicted a strained father-son relationship affected by addiction. The film mirrored some aspects of their personal lives, highlighting the damaging effects of drug addiction.
