The upcoming special election in November will determine who will fill the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Marco Rubio. Rubio left his position to serve as the Secretary of State.
Senator Ashley Moody, a Republican from Florida, received a temporary appointment to the seat after Rubio’s departure. Moody, who previously held the position of state attorney general, is seeking her party’s nomination to finish the term until 2028.
Moody could be competing against either state Representative Angie Nixon or retired Lieutenant Colonel Alex Vindman in the November election for the Democrats. Vindman gained national attention for his involvement in President Donald Trump’s first impeachment.
