Study Finds High Levels of Plastic in Bottled Water

47 minutes ago 0

Bottled water, often perceived as cleaner than tap water, may not be as safe as assumed. A recent study reveals that bottled water sold in stores can contain up to 100 times more plastic than previously estimated. These nanoplastics are incredibly small, with each particle being one one-thousandth the average width of human hair. This size allows them to pass through the digestive tract or lungs and enter the bloodstream.

Once in the bloodstream, these particles can distribute synthetic chemicals throughout the body and into cells. The study found that a liter of bottled water contains an average of 240,000 plastic particles, primarily nanoplastics, from seven different types of plastics.

To minimize exposure to plastic particles, experts recommend opting for filtered tap water and using a stainless steel or glass water bottle. Consider the following options.
