Florida Democrat Warns of Socialist Surge After DSA Candidate’s Primary Win

2 hours ago 0

A primary upset stirred the Florida Democratic establishment when Angie Nixon, a Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) member, achieved a significant victory with a 12-point lead. Representative Jared Moskowitz discusses his own successful primary strategy against a far-left challenger and responds to Senator Rick Scott’s criticisms regarding moderate Democrats.

Recently, Rep. Jared Moskowitz addressed accusations from Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., who claimed that the Florida Democrat is “scared to death” of the party’s socialist wing. Scott suggested that Moskowitz would follow marching orders from far-left influencer Hasan Piker if re-elected.

“Rick doesn’t know what he’s talking about there,” Moskowitz stated on “Fox & Friends.” He clarified, “Nobody in my district believes that I’m a Hasan Piker guy. Hasan would want nothing to do with me. I want nothing to do with Hasan, so, at the end of the day, Rick just doesn’t know what he’s talking about.”

Scott made these remarks during a FOX Business appearance, arguing that any Democrat winning the primary would align with Piker’s directives. He reiterated, “Moskowitz has been in there. He was in the House before. I assume he’s going to win. But just remember, whoever wins that seat, they’re going to vote the way Piker tells them to vote. They all support the platform of the Democrat socialists, because they’re scared to death of them,” Scott added.

Moskowitz is described as a centrist Democrat, vocal in his pro-Israel stance and critical of the party’s progressive members, including Piker. After defeating Democratic Socialists of America-backed challenger Oliver Larkin, Moskowitz took to social media platform X to share mocking “condolences” to Piker.

Piker responded to Moskowitz’s message, stating, “It’s pretty wild that his first thought was a prominent critic of Israel, before even thanking his constituents lmao. Really worried about his genocidal emotional support apartheid state.”

Moskowitz maintains his opposition to the DSA agenda, labeling it “anti-American at their core,” and urges Democratic leadership to denounce the DSA platform.

He acknowledges there is an economic populist movement within the DSA and believes mainstream Democrats need to recognize the reality of individuals struggling with affordability in the American way of life.
