More States Mandate Cursive Learning in Schools

1 hour ago 0

More than 25 states in the U.S. now require students to learn cursive reading and writing. This educational shift marks a return to practices common in earlier centuries.

In the early 20th century, cursive instruction was a standard part of the American curriculum. Children were usually taught to write in cursive or script, a practice that is less common today with the prevalence of print writing in early education.

Historically, some believed that the quality of a person’s cursive could provide insights into their character. This belief added a layer of importance to cursive education beyond simple literacy.
