San Francisco 49ers owner and CEO, John “Jed” York, faced arrest and arraignment in East Palestine, Ohio. He was initially suspected of “engaging in prostitution” and “possessing criminal tools.” These allegations were later reduced to misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and possessing criminal tools, as revealed by court records.
York was taken into custody on Sunday morning and released that afternoon on a $5,000 bond, confirmed by the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office. The incident took place at the Wheat Hill Mobile Home Community, a known trailer park.
The East Palestine police have advised contacting the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force for further details. The Task Force has yet to comment on the situation.
York appeared in Columbiana County Municipal Court on Monday morning. He pleaded no contest to both misdemeanor charges following a plea agreement filed by the prosecutor. Consequently, York is required to serve two days in jail, with one day credited for time already served.
In addition to the jail sentence, York has been ordered to pay fines totaling $1,150.
The NFL has acknowledged the incident, stating, “We are aware of the matter which will be reviewed under the personal conduct policy.” This suggests that York could face disciplinary action under the NFL’s Personal Conduct Policy.
The 49ers organization chose not to elaborate on the situation, commenting, “As this is a legal matter which has been resolved, we will not be providing any further comment at this time.” York, who has held majority ownership of the 49ers since 2024, hails from Youngstown, Ohio.
