The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced recalls of two popular children’s squeeze toys due to potential injury risks from their water beads. The toys in question are Squeezy Dumplings by GIHNJSI and Rainbow Mystery Squishy Buns by OKK Trading.
Safety Risks and Recall Details
The primary concern involves the water beads inside these toys. If swallowed, the beads can expand inside a child’s body, leading to choking or intestinal blockage. The CPSC warns this can cause severe discomfort, vomiting, dehydration, and even pose a fatal risk.
Squeezy Dumplings, featuring cartoon faces and glitter-like elements, were available on Amazon between May and June. Approximately 8,000 units have been recalled. Rainbow Mystery Squishy Buns, also decorative with glitter and cartoon imagery, were sold in various U.S. stores from May to August. About 7,200 of these toys have been recalled.
Actions for Consumers
The CPSC advises consumers to write “RECALLED” on these toys and their packaging using a permanent marker, dispose of them, and send a picture of the discarded product. For Squeezy Dumplings, email [email protected]. For Squishy Buns, contact [email protected]. Consumers will receive a full refund upon compliance.
Additional Warning from the CPSC
The CPSC also highlights safety violations related to Squishy Bun Toys from Ivyapingdianpu. These toys, containing similar materials, do not meet mandatory safety standards. The company has not issued a recall or remedy. Approximately 100 of these toys were sold on Amazon in June, among other platforms.
Consumers are urged to stop using these particular Squishy Buns immediately. If injuries occur or defects are noted, reports should be made to the CPSC. Officials recommend immediate disposal of these items.
