Two senior aides to Nigel Farage from the U.K.’s Reform Party have stepped down. This follows accusations of breaking British electoral laws related to foreign funding as reported by an investigative news team. The investigation aired on Channel 4, revealing a journalist posed as an American eager to donate to the party.
In response, Reform Party announced an internal probe. Spokesperson stated, “No further comment will be made while the investigation is ongoing.” James Orr and Dan Jukes, key figures in the party, left their positions pending the investigation. Both denied any wrongdoing.
Farage, in a radio interview, defended the party, denying illegal actions. He criticized the investigation as “entrapment”. The investigation revealed attempts to arrange donations worth 32,500 British pounds for political polls. Polls allegedly influenced articles in major British newspapers.

The investigation also explored a separate discussion on maneuvering around electoral law for a 500,000-pound donation, although this donation did not occur. Jukes expressed intentions to clear his name, distancing himself from politics for now.
Channel 4 stood by the investigation’s validity, urging public viewing for informed opinion. Pressure mounts on Farage amid his party’s major conference and existing scrutiny over significant donations from figures like cryptobillionaire Christopher Harborne.
Zia Yusuf, speaking at Reform’s conference, downplayed potential impacts. He expressed confidence in the party’s resilience and talent pipeline.
Other political entities, such as the Labour Party, have called on the Metropolitan Police to investigate further. The U.K.’s Electoral Commission has acknowledged the issue, stressing the seriousness of controlling party donations under existing law.
