As of now, all inbound flights to Miami International Airport are halted. This disruption is due to a disabled aircraft, as stated on the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) airport status information site.
Social media users have shared multiple videos showing smoke rising from an aircraft marked with the Amazon logo. The aircraft seems to be on a roadway.
‘21 Air Flight 7598 overran the runway after landing at Miami International Airport around 2 p.m. local time,’ stated the FAA in an email to Newsweek. ‘The Boeing 767-300 cargo aircraft took off from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico.’
The FAA is set to investigate the situation. They directed Newsweek to the airline for further information.
There is no clarity yet on whether there are injuries or fatalities.
Newsweek has contacted Amazon Prime, Miami International Airport, and Miami Fire and Rescue for more information.
