President Donald Trump joked about being “the boss” as he arrived late to a meeting with world leaders at the G7 summit in Évian-les-Bains, France, on Wednesday. His remarks drew attention upon his entry.
During a brief interaction with photographers granted access to the room, Trump quipped, “Would you like to stay for the meeting? It’s OK with me.” The press, however, left shortly after.
This meeting takes place as G7 leaders express their backing for Trump’s preliminary peace agreement with Iran. The agreement aims to reopen the crucial Strait of Hormuz.
In a collaborative statement, the leaders commended Trump’s leadership in achieving what they called a “breakthrough.” They mentioned that the deal, scheduled for a signing ceremony Friday, offers a “historic opportunity to prevent Iran from acquiring any nuclear weapon.”
