An Indiana family farm has faced criticism after creating a large corn maze in honor of Charlie Kirk. Despite the backlash, the farm stated it would definitely repeat the tribute. Critics quickly started leaving one-star reviews once the maze was announced.
Jeremy Goebel, manager at Global Farms, expressed that the intention behind the maze wasn’t divisive. The aim was to commemorate Kirk’s advocacy for open debate and free speech. ‘Absolutely, we would absolutely do it again,’ Goebel said. Although facing negative feedback, he feels it’s directed more at Kirk and his ideals than at the farm itself.
The founder of Turning Point USA, Charlie Kirk, was assassinated on September 10, 2025, at Utah Valley University during his ‘American Comeback Tour.’ The backlash against the farm began immediately after unveiling the maze design, including one-star reviews from previous customers who opposed the tribute.
Goebel described the backlash as puzzling. ‘I just think it’s very hard to wrap my mind around the fact that there’s been so much hate over this. We were just trying to remember a man who lost his life promoting freedom of speech,’ he said. While opinions about Kirk may differ, Goebel emphasized the intent was to honor someone who died supporting free speech.
Support wasn’t entirely absent. ‘I’ve heard from people all over the world, from Cape Town, South Africa, and even Australia, in support of it,’ Goebel noted. The farm’s gesture was aimed solely at remembering Kirk, not at causing division.
Goebel stressed the value of open dialogue in America. ‘I think part of what makes America great is that we can challenge each other’s ideas and disagree. No one side has all the answers,’ he told Fox News Digital. Progress often emerges from diverse perspectives challenging each other.
Fox News Digital reached out to Google for comments regarding the temporary closure of the farm’s profile due to claims of deceptive practices.
