The WNBA has commenced the announcement of its 2026 end-of-season awards. Cheryl Reeve, the head coach of the Minnesota Lynx, was honored as Coach of the Year on Monday morning. Reeve has now achieved this distinction five times, setting a league record with previous wins in 2011, 2016, 2020, and 2024.
Reeve secured 54% of the votes from WNBA journalists and broadcasters. Natalie Nakase, head coach of the Golden State Valkyries, garnered 27% of the votes, while Sydney Johnson of the Washington Mystics received 18%.
Currently in her 17th season with the Lynx, Reeve guided the team to an impressive regular-season record of 33-11, earning the No. 1 seed in the WNBA Playoffs. Her achievements during the 2026 regular season included her sixth selection as an All-Star Coach in July. That same month, she surpassed previous records, becoming the league’s winningest regular-season coach with 380 victories.
As the playoffs unfold, the Lynx are set to face off against the New York Liberty in Game 2 of their first-round playoff series on Tuesday, September 29. The playoffs began with best-of-three series matchups on Sunday, September 27.
