Smoke Effects Alert for ‘Chicago Fire’ Filming Near Obama Center

3 days ago 0

Residents on Chicago’s South Side might notice plumes of smoke near the Obama Presidential Center on Monday and Tuesday. The Chicago Alerts social media account informed locals about special smoke effects in the vicinity of the Obama Center, University of Chicago campus, and Griffin Museum of Science and Industry. The effects will occur from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days.

The Chicago Film Office has confirmed that these alerts are due to the filming of an episode of NBC’s “Chicago Fire.” Filming activities will take place on Dorchester Avenue between 55th Place and 56th Street. The episode involves a rescue scene simulation, which will produce heavy smoke effects on the rooftop and upper floors of an apartment building located on S. Dorchester.

The smoke used during filming will dissipate quickly, but people in the surrounding areas should expect some visibility of the effects. “Chicago Fire” is set to return for its 15th season on October 7 on NBC.
