Dallas Cowboys’ Narrow Loss to Baltimore Ravens Raises Questions

3 days ago 0

The Dallas Cowboys faced a heartbreaking defeat against the Baltimore Ravens in Rio de Janeiro. The game ended with a last-second field goal, sealing a 34-31 victory for the Ravens.

As the game approached its conclusion, Dallas’s quarterback, Dak Prescott, led his team to the five-yard line, aiming for a victory. However, the Cowboys had to settle for a tying field goal from Brandon Aubrey after failing to score a touchdown.

With only seven seconds remaining, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson completed a crucial 27-yard pass to wide receiver Zay Flowers. Jackson quickly called a timeout with just one second left on the clock. This set the stage for kicker Tyler Loop to make a successful 56-yard field goal, clinching the win for Baltimore.

Critics were quick to point fingers at the Cowboys’ defense for their late-game failure. Nonetheless, Hall of Fame wide receiver Michael Irvin directed more blame towards the Dallas offense. On ESPN’s “First Take,” Irvin expressed his disappointment, saying, “I’m way more disappointed in the offense. I am more disappointed in GOTI: The Greatest Offense There Is, not being the greatest offense there is.”

Echoing Irvin’s sentiments, Dak Prescott took responsibility for the offense’s shortcomings. “Frustrated,” Prescott admitted. “Frustrated as hell. Excuse me. Embarrassed. We don’t call ourselves the best offense, GOTI, and get down to the one-yard line and don’t put it in. Yeah, it just sucks. Not a lot of words or full explanation of it. …”

Prescott emphasized that the defense should not have been in the position to begin with. “Those guys were over there saying ‘it’s on us,’ absolutely not. We’ve got to put the game away, period,” he said.
