WWE NXT featured a thrilling match as EK Prosper attempted to claim the NXT Championship from Grayson Waller during an open challenge on Tuesday. Prosper, known for his aerial skills, demonstrated impressive moves in the ring. One highlight was when he positioned Waller on the announce table, readying for a spectacular display.
Prosper leaped onto the middle rope, executing a backflip precisely onto Waller. The audience at the WWE Performance Center erupted with excitement. Despite Prosper’s viral moment, Waller, showcasing his veteran prowess, managed to regain his composure and return to the ring.
Waller executed the Waller Effect maneuver to pin Prosper and secure his championship. His victory reinforced his status as the reigning champion. Waller has maintained the title for about a month, having won it in a heated fatal four-way match at Heatwave in August. In that contest, he triumphed over Tony D’Angelo, Cruz Montana, and Zilla Fatu.
Originally, Waller was scheduled to face Mason Rook for the title. However, Rook withdrew due to medical issues, prompting an open challenge announced by Shawn Michaels, NXT’s senior vice president of talent development and creative. In a social media video, Michaels expressed hope that stars like A.J. Styles or CM Punk might participate. Ultimately, EK Prosper took up the challenge, delivering a commendable performance against Waller.
