Clemson Tigers Face Weather Concerns for Upcoming Game Against Miami

1 day ago 0

The Clemson Tigers, known for their resilience, face another weather warning from the National Weather Service before hosting No. 4 Miami on Saturday night. This season, the Tigers have already encountered three consecutive game delays due to bad weather.

Their season opener against Lane Kiffin’s LSU was delayed by nearly two hours, resulting in a tough 51-10 loss in Baton Rouge. In Week 2, Clemson experienced another two-hour weather delay but managed to secure a 22-7 victory against Georgia Southern.

Week 3 saw play halted in the fourth quarter due to a lightning delay. Despite this interruption, the Tigers emerged from the delay to complete a comeback, defeating North Carolina 28-20.

In Week 4, with clear skies in Berkeley, California, Clemson succeeded with a 24-10 win over California, bringing their record to 3-1. As they prepare to face their first ranked opponent since LSU, the potential impact of weather is on Clemson’s radar again. Dabo Swinney’s team aims to perform well regardless of conditions.

Chapel Fowler from The State Newspaper reports that Clemson is closely watching forecasts of heavy rain and thunderstorms. There are currently no changes to the game schedule. As of this writing, kickoff remains set for 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. If circumstances change, the school will provide updates accordingly.

Per Clemson: The school is ‘monitoring potential inclement weather’ for Saturday’s game vs. No. 4 Miami, as heavy rain and thunderstorms are in the forecast,” Fowler posted on X. “There are NO changes to kickoff time as of now (still 7:30 p.m. Saturday), but if anything changes, they’ll announce it.

Historically, weather has played a significant role in Clemson’s past games. The Week 1 delay posed a challenge for Clemson. In Week 3, North Carolina struggled with their offensive strategy coming out of the delay, settling for a field goal despite a promising drive. Both Miami and Clemson are accustomed to playing in rain, indicating a level playing field should the weather take a turn.
