2 hours ago 0

The Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) World Championship represents the pinnacle of success in the company. For any professional wrestler, having your name associated with the title’s legacy is a significant achievement. The pressure to succeed is immense and striving for history can make it even greater. Leon Slater faced this challenge at Bound for Glory in Tampa, Florida.

On October 11, 2026, Slater had the opportunity to become the youngest TNA World Champion at 22 years old by defeating Nic Nemeth. This chance came after Slater nearly made history as the longest-reigning X Division Champion. Slater achieved his goal and defeated Nemeth to secure the championship.

Wrestling under pressure can be a crushing experience, but it can also lead to success. Slater handled this pressure with determination. He survived several moves from Nemeth, including a Skull Crushing Finale and a Rough Ryder. Slater executed a superkick and positioned Nemeth for a Swanton 450. While Nemeth kicked out, Slater persisted despite a near pinfall reversal by Nemeth.

“Pressure can crush anyone who cannot live up to it. It can also make diamonds.”

Slater demonstrated his resilience by countering Nemeth’s moves. He even leapt over the turnbuckle to surprise Nemeth on the floor. Although Nemeth avoided a third Swanton 450, Slater adjusted and alternatively executed a splash. This setup allowed him to perfectly hit the final Swanton 450, securing the victory and championship title.

With this win, Slater not only became the youngest TNA World Champion, but he also earned the nickname “Youngest in Charge.” Nemeth’s championship reign ended after 105 days, his second as world champion. Slater’s achievement now places his name permanently in TNA history.
