53 minutes ago 0

Trader Joe’s is on a growth trajectory, planning to open 30 new locations across 16 states. This week, stores in Anaheim Hills, California, and West Jordan, Utah, are set to welcome customers. Meanwhile, the other 28 stores, spread from Arizona to Washington, are marked as “coming soon,” according to Trader Joe’s website.

A Trader Joe’s spokesperson noted that stores are typically included on the “coming soon” list three to six months before their anticipated opening. Three new stores in Bend, Oregon; Boynton Beach, Florida; and Phoenix are projected for 2027.

The chain actively scouts hundreds of neighborhoods nationwide to increase its presence. Illinois currently leads the ‘coming soon’ list with four locations planned in Oswego, Chicago, and Joliet. California, Florida, and Texas each anticipate three new stores.

States like Arizona, New Jersey, New York, and Washington are set to have two new stores each. Colorado, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio, and Oregon will see one new location apiece. Trader Joe’s is celebrated for its private-label groceries and seasonal items, such as its popular Apple Cider Donuts and holiday treats.

The chain operates around 660 stores nationwide. Updates on new store openings are announced periodically, inviting shoppers to check those announcements. Since its inception in 1967 in Pasadena, California, founded by Joe Coulombe, Trader Joe’s has aimed to offer delicious products at great prices.

Recently, its mini canvas totes priced at $2.99 gained viral attention, with shoppers eager to acquire new colors, leading to high resale prices. The store’s checkout experience is known for its welcoming, chatty staff, often misconstrued as overly friendly. The deliberate pace of expansion is attributed to maintaining low prices and a unique in-store experience, as explained by Jason Feifer from Entrepreneur magazine.
