During an interview with TMZ, former Disney star Maitland Ward expressed her discontent with the depiction of an OnlyFans model in the third season of “Euphoria.” Maitland Ward, now an adult film star and OnlyFans creator, criticized scenes featuring Sydney Sweeney’s character, Cassie, for their inappropriate nature.
Ward objected to scenes where Sweeney’s character appears with a pacifier, pigtails, and sheer clothing. She stated, “There’s all sorts of stuff that you can’t do. The whole child-baby thing is so disgusting… It’s just disgusting and vile.” Ward emphasized the importance of adhering to OnlyFans’ guidelines, which prohibit content suggesting pedophilia.
“It’s making fun of OnlyFans creators rather than celebrating them,” insisted Ward in her discussion on the portrayal in “Euphoria.”
In the series, Sweeney’s character resorts to OnlyFans to pay for her wedding and cope with financial strain after discovering her husband owes millions. The portrayal includes Cassie dressed as a baby, a dog, and performing various acts for her subscribers, which Ward describes as inappropriate and a misrepresentation of creators.
Ward accused the show of reducing sex work to a “circus act.” She argued that the depiction reinforces harmful stereotypes about sex workers, countering the reality that many creators are building legitimate brands. Ward’s remarks reflect her concerns about this portrayal setting sex workers back, by mocking their career choices.
Reflecting on her career transition, Ward mentioned that she feels more respected within the adult film industry, appreciating the positive reception she has received. Her journey, shared in a recent interview, provides insights into the challenges and perceptions faced by those who transition from mainstream to adult entertainment.
