Major cruise lines are addressing the longstanding issue of chair hogging at pool areas. Passengers often use items like towels and flip-flops to reserve lounge chairs, even when they’re not present.
NCL is taking action to curb this behavior.
Reports suggest Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) is taking a strong stance. Social media highlights praise for NCL’s enforcement of its chair-hogging policy.
Crew members on Norwegian Escape are actively removing items from unoccupied chairs. Observations indicate the process starts around 10 a.m. with stickers marking reserved chairs. If unoccupied for an hour, crew members clear the space for other guests.
This enforcement approach has received positive feedback. Norwegian Cruise Line’s website states: “Pool, deck and [theater] chairs may not be reserved.” Additionally, the website outlines other rules such as prohibiting topless sunbathing and loud radios.
Many passengers have taken to social media platforms like Facebook, Reddit, and Instagram to discuss their experiences. Different strategies for dealing with chair hoggers include removing items personally or involving attendants. Some passengers believe the rules are disregarded by others who feel entitled.
Recent posts mention timestamp systems as an effective solution. These systems help monitor chair usage efficiently.
