Cincinnati Reds All-Star pitcher Andrew Abbott recently made a heartfelt announcement. He posted on social media revealing his engagement to his girlfriend, Lindsay Stone, with a perfect strike of a different kind—a proposal.
Stone is a familiar face to Cincinnati fans, having served as a TV anchor at WLWT for three years. The Instagram post, captioned ‘Forever,’ displayed their engagement celebration on a rooftop, with the Cincinnati skyline as a backdrop.
“Forever,” Abbott wrote, sharing a special moment with Stone.
Abbott’s baseball career has been impressive. He pitched against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field, a venue where he showcased his skills. The backdrop of Great American Ball Park added significance to his journey.
Stone, originally from an area about 30 miles north of Cincinnati, began her career covering Notre Dame football at WDNU in South Bend, Indiana. She later moved to WTTV in Indianapolis before joining WLWT. In a recent social media post, Stone announced she would leave WLWT, with her contract ending on May 24.
Abbott, 26, has spent his entire four-year career with the Reds. His breakthrough came last season when he earned his first All-Star selection, finishing with a 10-7 record and a 2.87 ERA over 166 1/3 innings. This season, he was named the team’s Opening Day starter. However, his performance had varied.
In 11 starts this season, Abbott holds a 4-2 record with a 3.97 ERA. He faced challenges with command, walking 26 batters while striking out 38. Recently, he found his form, achieving a 4-0 record with a 1.29 ERA and 19 strikeouts in his last five starts. His resurgence is a positive sign for the Reds.
Abbott and Stone’s engagement adds a joyous chapter to his life. Continue to follow updates on sports, including Abbott’s journey with the Reds.
