The Oklahoma City Thunder face significant challenges in Game 7 of the Western Conference finals against the San Antonio Spurs, with Jalen Williams and Ajay Mitchell ruled out due to injuries suffered during the series.
Williams has struggled with a strained left hamstring throughout the playoffs. He missed 49 of the Thunder’s 82 regular-season games due to wrist and hamstring problems. Saturday marks the 10th playoff game he will miss this year because of recurring hamstring issues. Williams played briefly in Game 6, managing only about 10 minutes before reinjuring himself.
Ajay Mitchell stepped in as the starter replacing Williams until he also sustained a strained right soleus. The team adapted by starting Jared McCain in his place, joining Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Isaiah Hartenstein, Lu Dort, and Chet Holmgren in the lineup.
In contrast, the Spurs have no reported injuries heading into the decisive game. The officiating crew for Game 7 includes Marc Davis, John Goble, and Josh Tiven. This marks the second Game 7 in these playoffs for both Davis and Tiven, with Davis previously officiating the final game of the Cleveland-Detroit series in Round 2, and Tiven overseeing Game 7 of Orlando-Detroit in Round 1.
