Joy Behar, co-host of “The View,” clarified her upcoming break from the show. On Friday, she stated it should not be called a “hiatus.” Behar had previously announced during the show’s “Behind the Table” podcast that she would be stepping away temporarily.

The show’s producer, Brian Teta, mentioned during the podcast, “This is your last podcast for a little bit, because next week you’re not going to be here.” Behar then addressed rumors about her break and promoted her upcoming play.

Behar expressed, “Okay, so there’s been a lot of media attention on me lately because I’m taking off the next two weeks. They’re calling it a hiatus. It’s not a hiatus. I’m working.” She explained her trip is for her play, “My First Ex-Husband,” in London.

She encouraged viewers to visit the official website for her play to discover other performances. “I’ve written a bunch of plays,” she continued, mentioning another play titled “Bonkers in the Boroughs” scheduled for the Hamptons at summer’s end.

Co-host Sara Haines humorously remarked, “I love that they’re calling it a hiatus. That’s a break, people, when you stop working.” Behar asked her co-hosts if they would miss her absence. Multiple co-hosts replied affirmatively, with Haines suggesting Behar could text her jokes from afar.

According to the play’s website, “My First Ex-Husband” is described as “a bold and heartfelt adaptation of true stories by Joy Behar, with razor-sharp wit and no filters, exploring love, sex, and relationships.”

The website also notes that a rotating cast of stars from theatre, television, and film will bring unique personalities to Behar’s tales, which may be eerily familiar.
