Country musician John Rich has expressed his willingness to perform at the upcoming Freedom 250 celebration after several artists withdrew from the event. This comes after Representative Tim Burchett urged former President Donald Trump to involve Rich in the musical program.
Burchett Calls for John Rich, Kid Rock, and Lee Greenwood
In a video addressing Trump, Burchett suggested that John Rich should kick off the event. He praised Rich for his patriotic songs and strong musical presence. Burchett also mentioned wanting Kid Rock and Lee Greenwood to participate in the celebrations.
In response, Rich took to social media, posting a humorous message indicating his readiness: “Hey @timburchett don’t threaten ME with a good time! (Have guitar, will travel:).”
Performers Withdraw from Planned Celebrations
Newsweek reported that the Freedom 250 event, part of a series of celebrations ordered by Trump, has seen several withdrawals recently. The 16-day “Great American State Fair” is set to take place soon at the National Mall in Washington, DC. It will feature musical performances and thematic installations related to the United States’ 250th anniversary.
John Rich Responds Online
Following Burchett’s comments, John Rich reposted a message on social media encouraging Trump to contact him. He suggested he could quickly gather a group of patriotic musicians from Nashville and beyond for a memorable 250 celebration. Rich added: “LET’S DO THIS.” He remarked, “This is true” and expressed his eagerness to help out.
Trump Suggests He Could Headline Event
With the uncertainty surrounding the lineup, Trump suggested he might headline a rally in Washington, DC. He criticized the artists withdrawing as “highly paid, Third Rate ‘Artists'” experiencing “the yips.” Trump even proposed replacing musical acts with what he described as “the Number One Attraction anywhere in the World,” implying himself.
