The founders, including ex-agents, analysts, and executives, recognize the unique culture and rules of the F.B.I. and aim to help those still working within the agency. Michael Mason, a former F.B.I. senior executive, highlighted the tension within the agency. He expressed concern over employees being terminated without due process, suggesting that the Justice Department is being used in untraditional ways.
Brian Driscoll, once briefly the acting F.B.I. director in 2025, also supports the group. Driscoll was dismissed after disagreements with the Trump administration regarding personnel decisions. In a video, he encouraged special agents and staff under pressure to seek the network’s assistance.
Kash Patel, the current director, has denied firing employees for political reasons, claiming such measures target biased personnel. His statements have led to contentious congressional hearings, where he faced accusations of deceit from Democratic lawmakers.
Michael Feinberg, a former counterintelligence agent, expressed concern over the bureau’s politicization, stating that investigative work should remain apolitical. He noted a significant disconnect between Patel’s public statements and the experiences of F.B.I. employees, perceiving a betrayal of the bureau’s core values.
These developments reflect a dramatic shift in the F.B.I.’s internal dynamics and illuminate the challenges faced by its workforce during this tumultuous period.
