Aaron Rodgers recently addressed some rumors about his new teammate, Drew Allar, during an appearance on the “Not Just Football with Cam Heyward” podcast. Rodgers, known for his candidness, spoke about the alleged “racy” direct messages attributed to Allar, which surfaced in 2025. Allar, now a quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, was selected in the third round of the 2026 draft.
During a training camp practice at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, Rodgers and Mason Rudolph watched Allar as he looked to pass. Despite the rumors, Rodgers, 43, assured listeners that the messages were not true and emphasized that Allar has been in a happy, long-term relationship.
“For those pop culture enthusiasts, there’s a DM thread out there about Drew. He definitely wanted me to come on here and say it’s not true and that it was made up, but it’s out there. It’s a little racy,” Rodgers said. “But he’s been in a committed relationship for a long time. And he’s very happy. And it’s none of that was ever true.”
The alleged messages went viral last year, but as seen on Instagram, Allar and his girlfriend Emma Bush seem unaffected by the gossip. They have been a couple since high school; last week, Bush posted a video on TikTok celebrating their seven-year relationship.
Rodgers further shared his initial reaction to the rumors when he first heard about Allar, recalling how such topics often circulate in quarterback rooms.
“When I heard Drew Allar, [the] first thing I thought was, ‘Oh, that DM thing.’ It went around like quarterback rooms because quarterback rooms are like that – like, ‘Hey, do you see this kid in college, you know, these DMs?’ I was like, ‘Oh s–t man,'” Rodgers continued.
Allar, 22, handled the speculation well, demonstrating resilience within the NFL environment. Rodgers recounted his conversation with Allar about the situation: “One of the first things I said to him was like, ‘Hey, the DM thing ever get you in trouble?’ He’s been with his girlfriend for a long time. And I was like, ‘You got through that DM scandal?'”
Rodgers is enjoying his final season, expressing enthusiasm for the Steelers’ quarterback room, which includes himself, Mason Rudolph, Will Howard, and Allar. He considers it one of his favorites.
