Adam Copeland, renowned for his contributions to wrestling, is set to compete at Arena México for the first time. This venue is a new addition to his career, as part of All Elite Wrestling’s (AEW) Grand Slam: Mexico event.
During this event, Copeland will team up with Christian Cage, the AEW tag team champions. They will join forces with Matt and Nick Jackson to face off against Jon Moxley, Daniel Garcia, Pac, and Wheeler Yuta in an eight-man tag team match.
Copeland shared his excitement about this opportunity on Instagram, where he described Arena México as “The Wrestling Cathedral.” He expressed fondness for Lucha Libre, highlighting its distinctive elements such as the masks and pageantry.
“Tonight I get to perform for the first time in The Wrestling Cathedral,” he wrote. “Arena Mexico. The last time I had a match in Mexico was 2008. Mexico we got some catching up to do! I love Lucha Libre. Everything about it. The masks, the mystique, the pageantry. Can’t wait to get out there. See ya soon Mexico, bring your voices.”
Competing in such iconic venues has long been on Copeland’s list. Alongside Arena México, he aims to perform at Wembley Stadium, Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto, and the Tokyo Dome in Japan. He anticipates marking Wembley Stadium off his list when AEW hosts its premier pay-per-view event, All In, at the venue.
Previously, Copeland and Cage secured the AEW World Tag Team Championship in an intense “I Quit” match against FTR. They have maintained their championship status since, showing readiness for any competitors they might face at Wembley Stadium.
