Alan Ritchson Avoids Politics Amid Studio Pressure

1 week ago 0

Alan Ritchson, the star of “Reacher,” has faced pressure from studios to avoid discussing politics publicly. This became evident after his political rants drew significant attention. During a session at Fan Expo Canada, The Christian Post reported that Ritchson humorously discussed the warnings from production studios. He remarked, “You know how many phone calls I get from studios like, ‘Would you shut the f— up, please? Stop talking in public.’” Despite this, Ritchson emphasized he was not seeking chaos. He further stated, “I’d like a little — I’m not going to get into it. You don’t want to see my rants starring these g—— f—— politicians everywhere.”

During the event, Ritchson refrained from further political comments, attributing his restraint to advice from Sony. After receiving applause from the audience, Ritchson offered a fist bump to the moderators and commented, “Pedos win.”

He also accused Amazon Prime Video of canceling a “Reacher” storyline involving White supremacists, implying a political motive. Ritchson engaged with a fan on Threads, expressing disappointment over the series not adapting a book with Jack Reacher confronting a White supremacist militia camp.

Referring to President Trump in an online discussion, Ritchson mentioned, “My favorite book. Fun fact: I had it approved until someone got re-elected.” Ritchson criticized conservative Christians supporting Trump in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter in April 2024. He said, “Trump is a rapist and a con man, and yet the entire Christian church seems to treat him like he’s their poster child, and it’s unreal. I don’t understand it.”

Following this, Ritchson disclosed facing “violence” after expressing his opinions. He stated, “If you want to see violence flee the world, be more generous to everybody! That is the Christian ethic! That is what I don’t see happening. And when I speak up about it in my own ways, I’m met with violence.”

Hollywood commentator Christian Toto suggested that Ritchson might be sabotaging his own projects with his political outbursts. Toto said, “The actor’s political rants are even worse than what Robert De Niro says on a given day. It’s hysterical blather, and his ‘Reacher’ fans are noticing.” Toto posed questions about Ritchson’s choices, given the potential impact on his career and audience perceptions. He mentioned, “Doesn’t he realize the precious gift he’s been given, to be able to headline major motion pictures? Doesn’t he understand how fleeting that kind of fame can be and how audiences might be turned off by his unhinged rhetoric?”

Fox News Digital reached out to Sony and Amazon Prime Video for their comments on the situation.
