Tiger Woods’ Arrest and Bodycam Footage
In March, bodycam footage captured Tiger Woods during his DUI arrest on Jupiter Island, Florida. The video reveals Woods appearing confused following a rollover crash. Criminal defense attorney Donna Rotunno reviewed the footage, commenting on Woods’ state and his claims. This case presents challenges for prosecutors to demonstrate impairment, especially in the absence of a positive alcohol test.
Legal Proceedings and Court Appearances
Tiger Woods, a five-time Masters champion, is due in a Florida court for a hearing regarding a potential plea change in his DUI case. This case originates from the March rollover crash. Reports indicated that an SUV, registered to Woods, was discovered on its side at the accident site in Martin County, Florida, about 40 miles from West Palm Beach. The arrest affidavit mentioned Woods failed a field sobriety test and possessed prescription painkillers.
“Woods announced plans for time away from public life to focus on recovery,” said a spokesperson.
Woods was booked into Martin County jail on March 27, 2026. Initially, he pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor counts of DUI and refusing testing. He also received a citation for careless driving, with a court appearance initially set for September 8, later rescheduled to Wednesday morning.
Hospital Records and Plea Conference
A court ruling approved the release of Woods’ hospital records to prosecutors. The plea conference for the 15-time major champion is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. at the Martin County Courthouse. It remains undetermined if Woods will alter his plea or if there’s an agreement with prosecutors. Attempts to contact his legal team have not yet been successful.
Challenges in Comeback and Past Incidents
The crash compounded Woods’ history of vehicular accidents, complicating his latest comeback after numerous injuries. In February 2021, he endured serious injuries from a crash near Los Angeles. His vehicle flipped multiple times, trapping him inside. Emergency surgery addressed severe leg injuries, involving rods, screws, and pins. Recovery extended over several weeks.
Returning Home and Future Prospects
Woods returned home after over a month in a rehab facility in Zurich, following the Florida incident. Though not competing, he engages with the sport. Recently, he congratulated Scottie Scheffler, new world No. 1, for achievements in the Tour Championship and PGA Tour earnings. Woods praised Scheffler’s consistent season on social media.
