Angel Reese’s Standout Season with Atlanta Dream

4 days ago 0

Atlanta Dream’s All-Star forward Angel Reese is having a remarkable season. Despite some media focus elsewhere, Reese is quietly achieving greatness on the basketball court.

On Monday, the Dream (20-12) convincingly defeated the Toronto Tempo (10-22). Reese contributed significantly with 20 points, shooting 50% from the field, and securing 14 rebounds. This performance marked her 22nd double-double of the 2026 season, setting a new franchise record for the Dream.

The Dream shared on X, “She IS the Double-Diva, at the top of her game, etched into Atlanta Dream history with the most double-doubles in a single season.”

With 12 regular-season games remaining, Reese has ample opportunity to extend her record. She has achieved a double-double in five of her last six games, putting her in a strong position to potentially surpass Alyssa Thomas’ WNBA record for single-season double-doubles.

Reese’s season averages are impressive: 15.8 points, 11.9 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.7 steals. Her 11.9 rebounds per game lead the WNBA, and maintaining this rate could earn her a third consecutive rebounds title.

However, Reese’s primary focus is on winning a championship. Since joining the Dream following a trade from the Chicago Sky in April, she has repeatedly expressed her desire to taste victory in the playoffs. With the team set for postseason action barring any major setbacks, Reese is poised for her first playoff experience since being picked seventh overall in 2024.

Looking ahead, the Dream will travel to face the Connecticut Sun on Thursday, followed by a home game against the Indiana Fever on Sunday.
