PEORIA — Freshman Rylee Dunlavy excelled at the plate, going 2-for-3 with an RBI triple, and contributed by scoring twice as Antioch secured a victory over Dunlap in the Class 3A state semifinal. The game took place at the Louisville Slugger Sports Complex on Friday. Dunlavy’s impressive triple was integral to a four-run first inning for the Sequoits, who boast a stellar record of 33-3.
Antioch is set to compete against either Chatham Glenwood (29-2) or Fenwick (22-11) in the state championship game. This marks Antioch’s third time reaching the state final in four years.
Freshman first baseman Kylie Pfleeger also made significant contributions, hitting a triple and driving in two runs. Freshman pitcher Pearl Wenzel showcased her skill by allowing only one run on six hits and two walks, while achieving two strikeouts over seven innings. This performance enhanced her undefeated record, now standing at 16-0.
Senior designated player Kailyn Bockwoldt was instrumental as well, adding two hits with an RBI. Senior catcher Addie Webb’s two-run single furthered the team’s advantage.
