Arch Manning’s Draft Prospects and Current Performance

1 hour ago 0

The Texas Longhorns, currently ranked number one, have emerged as strong contenders for the College Football Playoff (CFP) this season. Arch Manning, serving as their quarterback, has played a key role. Despite the team’s success, Manning’s individual performance has not bolstered his prospects for the 2027 NFL Draft. Reports suggest his draft stock is slipping and may exclude him from the first round.

Manning’s performances against top opponents such as Ohio State and Tennessee have highlighted some deficiencies in his passing ability. In each game, he completed less than 210 yards and threw interceptions, raising concerns about his potential in the NFL. These performances contrast sharply with expectations from the start of the 2026 college football season when Manning was considered a potential top pick for the 2027 NFL Draft.

Ryan Wilson, a respected NFL Draft analyst with CBS, shared his insights regarding Manning’s draft status. On Tuesday, Wilson explained why Manning no longer features as a first-round pick in his latest mock draft for 2027. “I’ve spoken with many in the league. While ‘frustrated’ might be too strong a word, Arch Manning has not fulfilled expectations,” Wilson said. “He’s under considerable pressure, influenced by today’s digital world. But his performance hasn’t matched that of a first-round pick.”

Wilson compared Manning to recent draft picks with strong arm talent who ultimately failed to excel as NFL starters. “We discussed this before going live. Take Anthony Richardson and Will Levis, athletes with high potential. Arch Manning ranks as one of college football’s top athletes, possessing a powerful arm and a range of skills. Yet, his play hasn’t reflected that of a top 15 pick recently,” Wilson remarked. “If a team is looking to address different roster needs in picks 16 to 32, choosing a developmental quarterback is best left for later rounds.”

For Manning, the positive takeaway is that his team is performing well, offering him platforms to showcase his skills. As the University of Texas maintains its winning path, Manning will have opportunities throughout the season to possibly improve his draft standing. He faces another crucial game in the Red River Rivalry against the Oklahoma Sooners, scheduled for Saturday, October 10, at 3:30 PM EST on ABC.
