During a concert at Chicago’s United Center, Ariana Grande addressed her fans about her upcoming break from the public eye, which she plans to take after the ‘Eternal Sunshine’ tour wraps up. Speaking to the audience, Grande explained how her decision has been long-considered, not a reaction to recent events. ‘Things can get blown out of proportion,’ she stated.
Grande decided to step back thoughtfully and from an empowered perspective. She emphasized that ‘many things can be true at the same time.’
On the previous Sunday, it was announced that Grande had opted out of her role in the London production of Stephen Sondheim’s ‘Sunday in the Park With George,’ slated for a 2027 opening at the Barbican theater. Amidst rumors and speculation, fueled by her recent breakup with ‘Wicked’ co-star Ethan Slater and the release of her album ‘Petal,’ Grande has addressed concerns about her health and appearance. She reiterated a sentiment from a 2023 TikTok post, urging people to be less critical of others’ bodies.
A representative confirmed to People magazine that Grande, 33, would step back from the public eye after completing her tour. ‘She looks forward to finishing on a high note, both healthily and happily, before taking a much-deserved break from public-facing work and appearances,’ the statement read. The representative declined additional comments to the Associated Press.
Grande continued to reassure fans during the concert, noting that while concerns about negativity exist, her perspective remains positive. ‘Boundaries need to be set, breaks are sometimes necessary, yet this can be the greatest experience of my life,’ she told the enthusiastic crowd. The ‘Eternal Sunshine’ tour concludes on September 1 in London, following a 10-night residency at the O2 Arena.
