Beatriz Hatz, a recent contestant on ‘Love Island USA,’ has achieved a significant milestone. Although she did not win the reality show, the 25-year-old Paralympian clinched gold at the USA track and field outdoor national championships in New York City. Winning the T64 women’s long jump competition marked a major achievement for Hatz, occurring just weeks after the show’s finale on July 12.
The T64 Long Jump Event
The T64 long jump category is designated for athletes with moderate movement issues in one lower leg or the absence of one or both legs below the knee. This classification allows athletes like Hatz to showcase their skills on a competitive level, providing them with a platform to shine.

During the competition in New York, Hatz initially ranked second, trailing behind long jumper Taleah Williams. According to ESPN, she gained momentum by the fifth round, achieving a 5.24-meter mark. She secured the gold with a final mark of 5.11 meters in the sixth round.
Support from Fellow Islanders
Hatz’s victory was celebrated by special supporters in attendance. Her ‘Love Island’ cast mates Sean Reifel and Amora Robinson were present to cheer her on. In a video interview, Reifel praised her performance, describing her as a formidable competitor. Robinson expressed their pride in Hatz’s accomplishment following the event.
Training Challenges in the Villa
Preparing for the competition posed challenges for Hatz, who was unable to maintain her usual training routine while living in the villa. Starting as one of the original cast members of Season 8, Hatz quickly stood out for her honesty and humor regarding her limb difference. However, she exited the show by Episode 9 due to audience voting dynamics.
“My training will take three to four hours on the track,”Hatz told TODAY.com.“In the villa, you’ve got time constraints. I had to be very efficient with the work I was doing.”
Despite these constraints, Hatz made efforts to stay prepared. She brought her blade and conducted some training during her time on ‘Love Island.’ Though her training sessions were not shown, she remained committed, engaging in long jump drills, technical work, and tendon-ligament exercises.
This dedication showcases her determination and passion for her sport, contributing to her remarkable win at the national championships.
