Caitlin Clark Exits Game Early Due to Back Issue

5 days ago 0

Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark left Wednesday’s game against Phoenix Mercury due to a back issue. Her game ended before the fourth quarter, as reported by the Indianapolis Star. An incident in the second quarter appeared to worsen her discomfort.

Clark left the court with over five minutes remaining in the third quarter and headed to the locker room. The Mercury capitalized on her absence, securing a 111-109 win against Indiana.

Kelsey Mitchell led the Fever with 30 points. Kahleah Copper contributed 28 points for a Mercury victory, marking their sixth win of the season.

Clark’s physical style of play has been highlighted since her WNBA debut in 2024. The issue came up again after a second quarter foul resulted in contact near her groin and throat, but no foul was called.

This is not Clark’s first time dealing with back problems. Her presence on Indiana’s injury report has been frequent due to similar concerns. Indiana Fever will face Los Angeles Sparks next as they continue their homestand.
