Clark achieved a unique feat as the first WNBA player with consecutive games scoring over 30 points and registering more than 10 assists. In her final two games before the break, Clark scored 34 points and recorded 12 assists against the Connecticut Sun. She then scored 37 points, including making eight out of 12 three-pointers, with 10 assists in a win against the Chicago Sky.

The game against Chicago also featured an incident involving Enes Kanter Freedom, who was ejected after a dispute with Sky guard Natasha Cloud. This altercation did not distract Clark and her team as they secured a victory before returning home.

Off the court, Freedom’s comments sparked a national conversation involving biological men in women’s sports. A WNBA task force of team leaders convened to deliberate on issues such as transgender athletes’ participation but did not set eligibility standards. The WNBA issued a statement committing to engage all stakeholders and maintaining alignment with the league’s values, denouncing efforts that aim to marginalize or demean individuals.

Outstanding Individual Performance

Despite the off-court discussions, Clark’s on-court achievements are undeniable. In August, she achieved five games with at least 20 points and 10 assists, a feat unmatched in the past five seasons combined. Her average of 24.4 points per game set a record for the highest-scoring month by a point guard in WNBA history.

In August, the Fever secured a 7-4 win-loss record, bringing them to a 26-14 standing. This achievement places them fifth in the WNBA rankings, in a tight competition.

Four regular-season games remain after the international break. As Clark and her team return, they aim to maintain their momentum leading into the playoffs.
