CBS News Report on Abdul El-Sayed Sparks Controversy

1 month ago 0

CBS News recently faced criticism from far-left commentators due to a report highlighting past remarks by Abdul El-Sayed, the Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate in Michigan. The scrutiny coincides with the upcoming 25th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

The report focused on El-Sayed’s deleted social media posts, which included comparisons between the nearly 3,000 Americans killed on 9/11 and the death toll from the coronavirus pandemic. Another post from September 11, 2021, cited by The Washington Free Beacon, voiced sorrow for the lives lost and injuries caused on 9/11, as well as for the devastation in global conflicts attributed to America.

Among those critical of CBS News were supporters of El-Sayed and liberal commentators. Hasan Piker, a far-left commentator, denounced the headline on social media, speculating about the motivations behind CBS News’s coverage related to recent changes in network ownership and leadership. Commentators questioned whether the coverage was Islamophobic and inappropriate.

The backlash extended to CBS News’s editorial decisions, with figures like Mehdi Hasan and Tim Miller expressing outrage at the perceived racism and insensitivity within the network’s reporting.

In response to the criticism, a source from CBS News indicated that stories about deleted posts by politicians are common. On the campaign trail, El-Sayed addressed the situation, asserting the significance of the 9/11 attacks and highlighting the responsibility to prevent unnecessary military involvement.

For further details, media inquiries or reactions, CBS News did not immediately respond to comments from Fox News Digital.
